Papaya launches a marketplace for fleets to source electric vehicles, accelerating the electrification of commercial fleets
Papaya, the platform to source and manage electric fleets, has launched Europe’s first B2B marketplace to source electric vehicles and service providers.
The marketplace aims to remove the barriers to fleet electrification by aggregating suppliers and connecting all stakeholders on one platform.
Solving fleet operators’ growing need for flexibility, the Papaya marketplace facilitates operations with multiple vehicle and ownership types, service providers and geographies.
The addition of the marketplace to Papaya’s existing platform creates a wider ecosystem, empowering the electrification of commercial fleets, from sourcing to managing.
London, 6th June, 2023 - Papaya Technologies, the company on a mission to electrify European fleets, today announced the launch of the industry’s first marketplace dedicated to sourcing electric vehicles and service providers for commercial fleets. Offering a wide range of vehicles - from cargo bikes to e-vans - as well as service providers, including maintenance and subscription-based EV suppliers, the marketplace is a one-stop-shop providing a truly holistic view of the market. This empowers companies to discover new sustainable vehicles and partners, compare offerings and make informed decisions on how to best electrify their fleets.
With cities and governments doubling down on their net-zero policies, fleet managers are under pressure to electrify their fleets before 2030. However current emissions are going in the opposite direction. Last-mile delivery emissions are on track to increase by over 30% in the top 100 cities globally, reaching 25 million tons of CO2 emitted annually by 2030. Yet, in 2022 it was estimated that cargo bikes could replace around 51% of all motorised freight trips in European cities.
Papaya accelerates fleet decarbonisation by solving the fleet industry’s biggest pain points: an opaque supply and fragmented market. There is no common operating system, which means limited visibility of a fleet’s current status resulting in enormous inefficiencies. Geographical barriers compound the challenge, with fleets having to find regional and local solutions in each market they operate.
Papaya's newly launched marketplace complements its existing vehicle management platform, creating a comprehensive ecosystem that aims to accelerate the adoption of electric vehicles. This multi-sided platform serves as a centralized hub, connecting fleets and service providers, enabling operators to optimize costs, collaborate with multiple suppliers, mitigate supply chain risks, and expand operations on a geographical and operational scale.
Since Papaya's successful launch, it has experienced significant global demand, working with industry leaders such as GoPuff, Foodora and Zedify. Papaya is live in multiple countries including the UK, Spain, France and Germany, and plans to continue expanding across every major European country.
Santi Ureta commented: “I experienced first-hand the challenges of electrifying and managing a fleet and it was a really painful experience. That’s why I wanted to build a simple platform to help others throughout the whole process. With the marketplace, Papaya is becoming a real ecosystem. Fleet managers and service providers can easily plug in and interact with each other. They source and manage fleets from a single platform and they can achieve all their operational and decarbonisation objectives faster.”
Leading companies, such as VOK, Askoll, EAV, or Fettle, are already available through the Papaya marketplace and more companies have already confirmed their plan to join the platform over the coming months.
